Swiss Village Foundation (SVF) preserves rare and endangered breeds of food and fiber livestock including cattle, sheep and goats. SVF offers a range of public educational programs for everyone including preschoolers and vet school students.
Why Preserve Heritage and Rare Breeds? According to the U.N. Food and Agriculture Organization, our planet loses one livestock breed every month. Decreasing food chain diversity puts the whole planet’s food chain at risk. Many heritage breeds thrive on pasture forage and do not need high intensity corn.
